Day 2 Highlights...

Nothing to Declare: https://vimeo.com/209201150. This animation. was. shocking. In the best way possible. The visuals, the details were amazing, it had an unusual aesthetic which just made the story even more harrowing.

This was one of my favourite moments of the festival, it really opened by eyes to all the different options in animation- VR and AR alike. It is always important for me to be reminded to take off my blinders and not reduce myself to one thing, plus a talk from a woman in the industry is always inspiring because it's easy to get bogged down in a male driven industry.

Masterclass: Loving Vincent
This was incredible! Hearing the back story to the making of the film was so special, to see this passion project come alive despite the directors overcoming adversity. The time that not only went into the animation itself, but the preparation is outstanding. They retold his story using his letters, and fit Van Gogh's paintings to the narrative. 1 second of animation took 2 weeks, and the opening shot would've taken 18 months if they hadn't split it between 3 artists. 100+ artists, 3 locations, 65000 individual frames spanning Dover to Dunkirk. For there to be a flood in their space and the only things to survive to be the paintings, wow.
Loving Vincent: Film: Breathtaking!
